I'M staring out the window, dreaming. This is what it could (will) be like in our lovely region. A walk past the 13th century POULTRY CROSS in downtown Salisbury (perhaps listening to Wonderland by Allo Darlin on the earphones) on through the wide open 'piazza' market square; down Catherine Street to the Greengage cafe to meet Richard and his team of welcomers lead by Bel : back out, eyes buzzing from the Flat white coffee and into NEW CANAL named after the canal from Southampton which never reached the city; a notch on the historical 'talking stick'. Out into Fisherton Street and make for Fisherton Mill cafe run by Michael and a huge team of crafts wo/men, cooks artists, and jugglers - Michael performs the 'juggling'; an ancient and modern experience for sure. Back over the river and past another mill which leads into the Maltings and past the Library to the X3 bus waiting for you every half hour.........Have you heard of Jason from the Bat and Ball,( Breamore) , whose publican skills take in the Radnor Arms (,Nunton) and the Horse and Groom, ( Woodgreen) - surely a contender for 'publican of the region'. And then its back to Fordingbridge with Marco running the Italian restaurant called La Lambretta dead opposite Clare the greengrocer who provides him with fresh ingredients........a huge comforting 'circular economy' with us as the drivers and users.
Then there's the George Inn by the Seven Arch bridge............................... next time
